1888–1891 – acquired his first professional skills in the Rostov museum of church antiques while repainting old icons
Thanks to the good offices of Vasily Vereshchagin, Petrovishev enlisted in the painting department of the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
1898 – joined the workshop of landscape painting, where his teacher was Isaak Levitan and later Apollinary Vasnetsov, both his teachers having a great influence on Petrovichev who became a master of lyrical landscape
Petrovichev’s paintings were shown at the exhibitions arranged by Mir Iskusstva [World of Art] and of the Society for Travelling Art Exhibitions.
Petrovichev had his one-man shows in Moscow in 1917 and 1946.
His paintings can be found in Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) and in all major regional museums of Russia.
