1943–1945 – studied art in the Mitrofan Grekov studio of war painters
1945–1961 – a student of Sergei Gerasimov at the Surikov Art Institute

Exhibitions:

Ivan Sorokin began to show his paintings at public art exhibitions in 1944. His paintings were exhibited in UK, France, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Japan, Sweden, Canada and other countries.

Personal exhibitions:

Sorokin had his one-man shows in Moscow (1980, 1992 and 1998) and Berlin (1997).
